City of Atlanta Finance Team
In the spring of 2020, DPR embarked upon the development of a ten-year comprehensive parks and recreation system master plan ("Activate ATL") that provides recommendations for the provision of facilities, programs and services; parkland acquisition and development; maintenance and operations; and administration and management. A copy of the Activate ATL Master Plan (February 2022) is currently available here. The focus of Activate ATL is to improve the City’s parks and recreation system for all to enjoy. In doing so, DPR understands that the City’s parks, programs, and recreation events must reflect the needs and desires of the diverse neighborhoods and communities that the City serves. DPR uses data-driven mapping to evaluate needs and help guide equitable prioritization of capital investment and improvement for parks and recreation across the City of Atlanta. Please see the Equity Data Tool link below for more information. A key focus area will be “equity neighborhoods,” i.e. those neighborhoods that exhibit inequities and geographic disparities within the City. Future investments will be prioritized to improve the existing condition, especially in historically underserved areas.
